This week we get to explore something that we haven’t really talked about in great length on previous episodes of the podcast. When it comes to Magic and Manifestation practitioners have different ways to connect and communicate with their spirit guides. One of those ways is by using the Akashic Records. You may be asking yourself, “Um… What are the Akashic Records?” This question is totally understandable and we had the same questions at the Balanced Black Girl podcast so I decided we needed to bring on an expert to share her insights and journey so far.
Brittany “Brit” Starr is a spiritualist and creator working at the intersections of modern technology and the infinite. Through her studio, Sword + Stone, she amplifies the magic of conscious businesses through divinely inspired tech services and education. She offers a unique fusion of channeled guidance, archetypal journeying, and Akashic education through her online community, The Inner Well.
We get to it all in this episode, from Brit’s journey to discovering the power connecting with the Akashic Records has. To the lessons, she has learned through her interpretation of the records. As well as the ways we can use them for interpersonal development through practices of feeling our intuition, meditation, and prayer. We also chat about the messiness of spirituality and why it’s ok that our wellness journey will never be perfect.

The messy parts are the most difficult parts of wellness. There’s a lot of focus on the way things look or appear. But most of life, everything beautiful, corresponds with something hard or challenging.

WE ALSO TALK ABOUT…
- The history of the Akashic Records
- How we can communicate with the Akasha
- Why wellness should be messy and imperfect
- How communicating with the Akashic Records can help with anxiety
THE HISTORY OF THE AKASHIC RECORDS
The origin of The Akashic Records cannot be traced to just one religion. In fact, they draw upon the universal understanding that divine awareness and memory are possible across all religions. There is a deep knowing by all practitioners that reading the Akashic Records transcends religious sects which is actually quite beautiful.
Linda Howe, the author of the book ‘How to Read the Akashic Records’ defines them as a spiritual modality that offers empowerment and transformation by lending us exactly the wisdom, guidance, and energetic support that we need in this lifetime. For centuries, the Records — the energetic archive of Souls’ past, present, and future possibilities — were the exclusive domain of mystics, saints, and scholars. No longer! The collective consciousness of the human race has been growing, evolving, and maturing. This spiritual independence is marked by individuals who know that they have direct access to their spiritual Source, and who cultivate that sacred relationship.
This means we all contain the power to interpret the records and be led by our spiritual guides.
HOW WE CAN COMMUNICATE WITH THE AKASHA
Brit shares that using the Tarot helped her deepen her intuition practice. She also offers a couple of free meditations to help those of us who are new to reading the Akashic Records connect to our higher selves in the Akasha which reveals the heart of we are. (these meditations are linked in the show notes)
Through this practice, we can start feeling comfortable with the energy in our Akashic portal. Being comfortable with the records and developing a ritual around the space that you’re in will help you connect as it blurs the link between the conscious and subconscious mind.
HOW WE CAN USE THE AKASHIC RECORDS FOR LIFE GUIDANCE
Brit shares several ways we can use the records to guide us in life. She recommends starting your communication via a practice you already feel the most comfortable doing, this could be meditation, chanting, tarot, or even praying.
At times it can seem like there is a “middleman” with us on our spiritual journey. Accessing the Akashic records gives us direct access to our ancestors and the answers we need to live a more grounded, less anxious, and intentional life.
FIVE WAYS TO ACCESS THE AKASHIC RECORDS:
- Decide what you want to know
- Identify a question you may have
- Clearly state your intent and request guides
- Use whatever meditation practice you prefer to enter a relaxed state
- Record your revelations
Repeat this process however many times you need to get the answers to what you are searching for.
WELLNESS SHOULD BE MESSY AND IMPERFECT
We live in a world obsessed with the illusion of perfection. From the way we present our physical bodies all the way to how we navigate our journey with wellness.
It’s easy to become fixated on a certain point. Our internal voice can conflate wellness with perfection. -“If I do yoga every day, and drink my smoothies, and take supplements, I’ll be perfect”. Or the narratives we tell ourselves about our spiritual practices. No amount of hot yoga, pilates, or ritual will remove the twists and turns life throws us. At times it’ll get ugly, life will never be perfect, but that’s the beauty in it, right? Wellness isn’t a destination as much as it is an ever-changing journey within on the pathway to our truest selves.
Brit dropped some pretty insightful gems in this episode, and we hope you learned as much as we did! If you’re looking for a way to connect with yourself on a deeper level and gain insight and guidance on your spiritual journey, accessing The Akashic Records could be what you have been searching for.
