If you’ve gained a few pounds over the past year, you are not alone.
According to a recent survey by the American Psychological Association, 43% of Americans gained an average of about 30 pounds over the past year.
I’ll say that again.
Despite unprecedented government intervention “for the sake of our health”—using air quotes here—nearly half of Americans gained 30 pounds in the past year.
If that’s you, no worries and no judgment, we’re here to help. But we’re also here to tell you that there is hope.
While most people are out there gaining weight this past year, my buddy Ivan challenged himself to get back into shape and cut 30 pounds.
So today, I’m honored to introduce you to my dear friend, Ivan Grant aka Melo, a fellow Dartmouth alumnus, singer and premiere bartender in Las Vegas.
Ivan recently took on a weight loss and fitness challenge with his bro, cut over 30 pounds and he already looks 10 years younger.
This is a really fun conversation with an old friend. I hope you dig it. We’re chatting about…
- How Ivan shed over 30 pounds during lockdown
- The worst hangover drinks
- Simple strategies for drinking alcohol without losing your health
- The benefits of joining a challenge with your friends and family
- What to do when you fall off the wagon and need to drop a few pounds
- A simple tip to cut your cravings
- And tons more…
And in case you’re wondering what my nickname was when I sang in the Dartmouth Aires with Ivan “Melo” Grant, I’m Vino. Nice to meet you. 🙂
Alright, let’s go hang out with our dear friend, Ivan Grant.
Where To Find Ivan Grant
If you find yourself in Las Vegas, you can find Ivan Grant at The D Las Vegas Hotel & Casino on Fremont Street.
Ivan: I’m right inside the bar called the LONGBAR and you’ll find me right on the tip of it, and probably standing on the bar, pouring out a bunch of shots into people’s mouths. We have a ton of fun.
You can also look up @thedlasvegas on Instagram to see some fun posts, like this one…
Ivan: You can look me up on Instagram @ivanatthed and follow all my adventures. I post all my fitness and my weight loss goings on there, which has been an amazing, miraculous journey.
And that’s a funny thing, I used to always scoff at people who posted their updates on social. I was like, “Oh this guy again,” and meanwhile I’m the guy who’s posting a weekly update photo of myself.
But that’s the part about accountability, personal accountability, and not because I’m trying to get praise or this or that, but praise is nice.
And just for fun, here’s a little video of us back in 2017…
Before You Go
Here’s a five-star review that Justin just dropped for Future Greens over at wildsuperfoods.com. He says…
“Really good greens powder. Delicious just mixed in water.
I’ve tried a number of greens powders, and this is the first one that doesn’t taste like yard clippings. Really good.
I don’t eat hardly any vegetables ever. I feel good about getting this daily.”
Hey, Justin, thank you so much for leaving this feedback and for the review, they really help.
Wherever you can leave a review for this show or any of our products or any of my books, it really helps, so I appreciate it.
So Justin, thank you for that. And also yard clippings, that’s a good one.
I usually think of fish tank when I’m having some of those greens powders, especially the unsweetened varieties, but yard clippings is another good comparison.
But truth be told, we’ve tried hundreds of different formulations over the years, and most of them I do not enjoy.
While the nutrients may be packed in there, if it doesn’t taste good, I’m not going to take it regularly.
So when my wife, Alyson, and I were thinking about what products we should lead with from Wild Superfoods, Future Greens was our very first one and it became our bestseller. And I’m so glad that you guys like it.
But here’s a little bit about Future Greens, especially for those of you out there who either don’t have access to a lot of vegetables or just don’t generally get a lot of vegetables into your diet.
That’s true for us as well. Living up at 8000 feet here in rural Colorado with sandy soil and rough short growing seasons, it’s been really powerful for us over the years to have greens and fruits that are shelf stable, whether we’re on the road or living somewhere remote where there aren’t a lot of greens around, it’s great to still be able to get them in.
So for those of you who don’t know real quickly, Future Greens is a superfood cocktail with 15 organic fruits and vegetables plus superfoods, and it only has 1 gram of sugar per tablespoon, which is the serving size.
So you get a ton of nutrients, it tastes good, but doesn’t rely on a bunch of artificial sweeteners or sugar or other suspect ingredients to get there.
So you can mix it just in your water by itself or you can mix it into superfood smoothies, and we even have some recipes.
So please, if you want to support this show and you’re in the United States, check out Future Greens over at wildsuperfoods.com.
Also with our new app, the next Wild Challenge is starting very soon and you can get your entry for free when you bundle it with some health goodies from Wild Suprefoods.
So Wild Superfoods is only available in the States for now, but you can join our Wild Challenges and community no matter where you are.
We’ve had thousands of people do just that, so get in touch with us, get involved. We really appreciate you.
By the way, if you want to eat right, no matter where you are, you always need to be one step ahead of fast food and junk food.
Whether you’re flying, road tripping, backpacking, going to school, or just getting ready for work, packing your lunch and keeping healthy snacks on hand is a way to get great results over time, and PaleoValley makes some of the best snacks out there.
The grass-fed beef in their beef sticks, for example, comes from small American-owned farms that practice rotational grazing, feed their cattle 100% grass and they’re never given antibiotics or hormones.
Their beef sticks are absolutely delicious. They have original flavor, Jalapeño, summer sausage, garlic summer sausage, and my favorite Teriyaki. Actually, the Jalapeño ones are really good, too.
But you can grab each one of those different kinds and even save more when you buy multiple packs.
